This is one of the most memorable times of our trip. Thousands of candles are lit in honor of the new temple built for "Lord Krishna". We are given alot of attention, and gifts of food, we are the only white people amongst hundreds of devote Hindus.
We travel to an herb market, and use these herbs to make Ayurvedic treatments. As apart of our trip we live with an Indian family for three weeks, the Matriarch, Shanta, gives us a cooking lesson, and this is what we prepare, a traditional Indian meal, served on a banana leaf.
Golden coconut oil, over a period of two days, all steps done by hand , we now have something to show for our hard work. At Tasara, our home for three weeks, in Calicut India, we practice Yoga, with our beloved teacher Gopalakrishna. A outdoor terrace set high around lush gardens is our space for practice.
Yoga on the beach in Goa, Bonnie feels inspired to move into Warrior 11. The day comes to an end, the sun sets in Palolem, Goa. The last week of our trip is spent here, living a bohemian lifestyle.
Kids will be kids, on our walk to the Indian Ocean we come across these kids, who love to have their photos taken Driving along the road in the mountains we stop and have some chai (tea), one of a few spots dotted along India's roads you can stop and rest.
This is one of my all time favorite photos. A women selling her produce, quite comfortably at the Mysore Market. The colors are always a feast for the eyes. Coffee beans are drying on this lovely plantation we stayed at in Waynad. Set high in the mountains, we enjoy the scenery, the coffee, and delicious Indian meals prepared by our hosts
This little girl is a member of the Hill Tribe people in the mountainous area of Waynad. She is washing dishes with a lovely smile for the camera. Kali is a female Hindu diety known as the "fierce one", or the "black one", this is one of her temples that we had the honor of visiting. Her presence was palpable.
Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity "the remover of obstacles" is worshipped at the start of a ritual or journey. A very popular deity found in many househols in India. No worse for the wear, the group sadly leaves our yoga teacher, and Calicut. Waiting at the train station for a overnight trip to Goa.
My friend and i live in this charming tree house in Goa. Set high in the trees we have a bird's eye view, what a way to live for awhile
