Yoga

The word yoga originates from the Sanskrit Yuj," to yoke" . From yuj also comes to "unite" , "join", and "connect", which implies a reintegration, a bringing back into balance. Since Yoga is union it harmonizes the body, breath, mind and spirit.

Yoga is a metaphor for life, finding your center in a pose encourages you to find your center in every day activities.

Asanas(postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), relaxation, meditation and body awareness through observation is what you will find in one of Bonnie's classes. She welcomes people who are interested in a truly genuine practice of being at home in their body, mind and spirit.

Meditation

A simple yet powerful technique of observing breath, taught by the Budda thousands of years ago.

Bonnie has been trained in Shamatha Meditation, completing "The Sacred Path of the Warrior" training program with the Shambhala Center in Halifax. Yoga teacher training includes meditation instruction as well.

Meditation allows us to be with ourselves just as we are , being present in the moment, and following the breath. As we observe thoughts and sensations as they arise , we begin to observe without reacting to every thought or feeling we have. In the run of a day we may feel bombarded with information overload, meditation can give us refuge, and is an antidote to stress related illnesses.

Through regular practice you will feel the fruition of your efforts.

"From meditation springs wisdom".
